Statement:

I think of my work as a particularly American West style of modernist plein-air painting. I recreate aspects of my experience through drawing, painting, patterning, stamping, adding and scribbling out. I aspire to hold a level of visual tension in my work. It's peppered with childhood experience, day-to-day, intuition, dreams, spiritual quest, nature forms, and whichever animal has lately entered my world. My goal is not always the articulate visual, but to create a playground of abstraction in which to linger. I prefer to explore rules rather than follow them and attempt to distill my mark making to the simplest note.
